JLT rugged tech deals with harsh environments

Rugged computer and tablet company JLT Mobile Computers has launched a new rugged tablet and vehicle-mount computer for its product portfolio.

According to JLT, the new MT2010 tablet provides operators with easy access to real-time data and direct connection to terminal operating systems across a whole port yard, while the new JLT6012 vehicle-mount computer takes user productivity to new levels.

JLT said the MT2010 survives a drop of up to four feet on to concrete, is IP65 dustproof (meaning it has an Ingress Protection, or IP, rating of being “dust tight” and protected against water projected from a nozzle) and works in temperatures of -10 to +50°C.

It also has a compact format and a 10-inch, sunlight-readable, projected capacitive touchscreen display, as well as being able to be adapted to individual customer needs, including extra storage or operating system alterations for boosted security.

“By using tablets from JLT, customers reduce the number of suppliers, thereby simplifying the maintenance of their mobile IT while taking advantage of the strong support and service model JLT is renowned for,” a spokesperson for JLT commented.

The JLT6012 comes with the industry’s most-compact design; modern Windows, Android or Linux operating systems; and the JLT PowerTouch projected capacitive touch technology, the technology company said.

It offers quick and easy login and identification with radio-frequency identification tags, high-brightness displays with adjustable auto-dimming for indoor and outdoor usage and easily-accessed programmable function buttons that can accelerate the most-common user operations.

Additionally, the rugged computer provides a wide-range 9–72 volts direct current isolated power supply with uninterruptible power supply functionality, making it suitable for installation in most vehicle types without expensive external hardware, and the PowerTouch display technology addresses today’s biggest cause of computer breakage, according to JLT.

The company will be co-exhibiting with IT systems integrator Autepra at this year’s TOC Europe, which will be held from June 12 to 14 in Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
