Christopher Borha, the general manager of Nigerian Ports Authority responsible for corporate services and strategic planning, says that when Nigeria embarked upon its port concession program in 2006, it lost 10,000 either highly skilled or unskilled dockworkers. In all, the workforce was cut from 14,000 to just 4,000 today. In all other areas, he maintains that the process has been a positive one.
