On 1 October 2008, Roger Clasquin (46) started in the position of Director of ‘Port of Rotterdam International’ (PORint), which is responsible for all the Port of Rotterdam Authority’s foreign activities.
The port authority already participates in the Gulf Region in the Sohar Industrial Port Company for 50%. In addition, it wants to develop and manage ports in an innovative and sustainable way. In order to pursue this goal, Rotterdam searches and researches interesting port projects in a/o Africa, Asia and Latin America. Clasquin has worked in various positions at the shipping company Hamburg Süd over the past 14 years, lately as General Manager for Hamburg Süd Netherlands and Belgium, and also as Area Manager for Western-Europe and the Iberian Peninsula. In these positions, he was responsible for four offices in different countries employing 120 employees. ‘Port of Rotterdam International’ (PORint) was established in January 2008 as a department of the Port Authority to position itself commercially abroad. In the first place PORint aims at marketing port management in the global market: international involvement in (new) port participations in for Rotterdam strategic countries. Besides that, PORint also executes boardroom consultancy activities.
