Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) and Siemens have teamed up to boost the adoption of advanced digital technologies aimed at improving operational performance, workforce capabilities and long-term resilience at one of Southeast Asia’s leading container ports.
Under the memorandum of understanding, the two organisations will collaborate on pilot projects, operational technology integration trials and capability development programmes. Areas of focus will include artificial intelligence, the internet of things, predictive maintenance, smart asset tracking and energy optimisation.

“By collaborating with Siemens on their cutting-edge technology, we are ensuring that PTP remains at the forefront of logistics innovation, providing our clients with the reliability, speed and efficiency they require in an increasingly complex trade environment,” said Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, group chief executive of MMC Port Holdings Berhad.
He added that the investment builds on PTP’s recent operational successes and record cargo volumes.
“By investing in this digital infrastructure today, we are securing a more resilient and high-performing future for the entire supply chain network we support,” he said.
The initiative is designed to test emerging technologies in real-world port environments, allowing both parties to evaluate performance, scalability and return on investment before wider deployment.
The collaboration will also place a strong emphasis on workforce development, helping prepare employees for increasingly automated and digitally connected operating environments through specialised technical training and skills programmes.
“By testing and deploying digital solutions in real operational settings, we can better prepare the port for future trade growth and evolving customer requirements,” said PTP chief executive Mark Hardiman.
Tindaro Danze, president and chief executive of Siemens Malaysia, said the project reflects growing demand for advanced logistics solutions across the region.
“Through this collaboration with PTP, we are moving beyond concept discussions into applied digital solutions that support operational efficiency, reliability and workforce transformation in port environments,” he said.
