A few weeks ago, Puerto Rosales officially inaugurated its new offshore jetty, Rosa Negra Terminal, marking a new era for Argentina’s hydrocarbon export infrastructure.
Developed by Oiltanking Ebytem, the terminal replaces the historic loading monobuoys with a state-of-the-art offshore facility built 2,000 m from the coast. Equipped with two berthing positions designed to accommodate simultaneously Aframax and Suezmax vessels, the new jetty positions Puerto Rosales at the forefront of Argentina’s crude oil export infrastructure.
Oil terminals demand berthing solutions that combine maximum safety with long-term reliability. For the Rosa Negra Terminal, ShibataFenderTeam designed and delivered 8 Cone Fender Systems (SPC 1800, G1.3), each equipped with closed-box steel panels measuring 2600 ×6000 mm and fitted with 50 mm-thick UHMW-PE pads.
The extra-large steel panels provide the required contact area to safely accommodate the large Aframax and Suezmax tankers under varying tidal conditions, while the thicker UHMW-PE pads enhance durability and ensure consistent performance during demanding berthing operations.
Building on its expertise in high-stakes terminals handling sensitive cargoes, ShibataFenderTeam delivered a solution that enables continuous operations while meeting the standards of the world’s leading oil and shipping companies.
