The Port of Seattle has installed a third shore power system at Pier 66, claiming this makes it the world’s first port with three systems for cruise ships.
The Port of Seattle will use Watts Marine’s innovative, cost-effective Mobile Cable Positioning Device (CPD), which facilitates shore power connections by moving the cabling strategically to the ideal location. The mobile design simplifies moving the system to accommodate docked vessels of all sizes and configurations, making shore power available almost immediately. The new shore power connection is expected to be fully operational by the 2024 Alaska cruise season. The port serves a large and fast-growing cruise market, with more than 200 vessels in a typical season between April and October.
