Klaipeda port, located on the Baltic Sea, has responded to ‘market changes’ by introducing drastic cost cutting measures. The main aim, says the port, is to increase its competitiveness.
Accordingly, dues for tramp container, ro-ro and ro-pax ships have been reduced by up to 40%, while dues for ro-ro liner ships calling twice a week reduced are dropping by half.
Further, there is a 50% tonnage due discount for ro-ro, ro-pax ferries which load or unload less than 75 cargo units, plus substantial discounts for regular cruise ships.
