ADM expands Scottish port operations

The investment, at a facility owned by Peel Ports Group, builds on ADM’s existing operations at King George V Dock in Glasgow and will create a more integrated logistics network along the River Clyde.

“Expanding our footprint from Glasgow to Greenock is an important step for ADM’s operations in the region,” said Jonathan Lane, managing director of ADM Agriculture and ADM UK country manager.

The additional capacity is expected to improve supply chain flexibility, increase handling capability and enhance service for feed customers throughout Scotland. ADM said the expansion will also provide greater resilience as the Scottish feed market responds to changing demand for imported materials.

The company’s presence at both Glasgow and Greenock will give it increased logistical options for handling agricultural products, supporting the movement of feed ingredients into the Scottish market.

Lane said the new capacity would help ADM ‘operate more efficiently, strengthen supply chain resilience and support our customers’ evolving needs across Scotland’.

He also highlighted the company’s relationship with Peel Ports Group, describing it as instrumental in supporting ADM Agriculture’s growth in Scotland in recent years.

David Huck, chief operating officer, Ports and Marine at Peel Ports Group, said: “We are delighted to strengthen our long-standing relationship with ADM through this expansion at Port of Greenock.”

He said ADM was a ‘valued strategic partner’ and that the investment demonstrated the importance of the Clyde as a gateway for agricultural imports serving Scotland.

Huck added that Peel Ports looked forward to continuing to work with ADM to support ‘growth, efficiency and resilience across the supply chain’.

The expansion comes as Scotland’s feed market continues to evolve, with growing demand for imported feed materials.

ADM said its expanded Greenock presence will help meet these changing market requirements while supporting the long-term competitiveness of Scottish agriculture.

The new Greenock facility is expected to become operational later this year, adding further capacity to ADM’s Scottish distribution network.
