CALLAO
APN, Perus national port authority, has rubberstamped plans to build a new box terminal at the port of Callao as part of a private-sector concession.
However, the concession route has not been adopted for the upgrading of facilities and Quay 5, at least not for the moment.
The new southern container terminal, which will cost US$175m to implement, will take three years to build. It will feature a 600 metre long quay capable of accommodating post-Panamax vessels.
Capacity will be in the region of 500,000TEUs.
