Total tonnage at the Port of Prince Rupert has slumped by nearly a quarter year-on-year, according to official figures.

All other traffic sectors at the Canadian port showed positive performance levels when compared with the same period last year.

Container tonnage throughput nearly doubled, chemicals increased 84%, while grain and log shipments held their own.
