Konecranes is now producing electric components for cranes with the launch of a new D-series electric chain hoist.
Initially available in the EMEA region, with global availability expected by 2026, the D-series offers lifting capacities from 80 kg to 5,000 kg across seven frame sizes.
“The Konecranes D-series reduces downtime with its modular design and low-maintenance components, enabling proactive maintenance that saves time and lowers costs,” explained Klaus Möllmann, senior manager, LLE Product Sales and Offer Support, EMEA.
“Designed for seamless integration with Konecranes equipment, including KBK workstation lifting systems, jib cranes and overhead cranes, it provides a flexible and efficient solution for a wide range of industrial applications.”
Key features of the D-series include advanced safety systems such as a slipping clutch with speed monitoring for automatic stops, 24V contactor control, and operating limit switches. The hoist is also designed for quick installation with height-adjustable control pendants and ‘plug & lift’ electric connections.
Capable of operating in temperatures ranging from -20°C to +45°C, the hoist features a low-maintenance design, with key components like the gearbox and brake requiring no maintenance for up to 10 years.
Möllmann added that there are plans to offer pre-configured quick-ship hoists with standard features, pendants and trolleys from March 2025.
The company is also enhancing its presence in Europe with a new order for two hybrid rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes from Terminales Marítimas de Vigo.
Termavi operates the main container terminal at Spain’s Port of Vigo on the country’s Atlantic coast.

The cranes are equipped with the complete range of Konecranes smart features including auto-steering, auto-truck guiding, auto-path optimisation and auto-positioning.
Additional enhancements include trolley and truck lane cameras, tyre pressure monitoring, fire suppression systems and automatic greasing systems.
