APM considers Isla Verde take-up
APM Terminals is currently reviewing plans to expand its activities in the port of Algeciras.
This would involve the partial take-up of new land on the expanded Isla Verde Quay.
However, this would be predicated on the company gaining a satisfactory collective bargaining agreement with port unions, which would involve the elimination of various extraordinary payments.
The stevedore is also seeking six-hour working days for both quay and yard crane operators. Currently, labour accounts for 65% of all costs when handling a docked vessel.
