BRISTOL HAS ITS OWN PLANS

Bristol has unveiled plans for a deepsea container port capable of handling vessels up to 12,000 TEUs. However, the project will only proceed once customers have given bankable guarantees according to managing director and joint owner of the port, David Ord. The port company has applied for a Harbour Revision Order and reckons the facility could open within three years. At present Bristol handles just 150,000 TEUs annually.
