Hamburg cruise pilot

The new CC3, a former multi-purpose cargo facility, covers about 16 hectares. The 450m central Kronprinzkai berth handles ships of more than 330m long drawing up to 13m.

Underway at the CC3 up until next year, the CGH told Maritime Journal, is a unique pilot project to test trucked-in gas supply to berthed ships for on-board conversion into electrical power.

There is also an LNG barge on call when needed. But apparently there is no shore power link at CC3 and no plans for one in the future.

CC3 will be owned by Cruise gate Hamburg (CGH), which is a joint venture grouping Hamburg Port Authority and Hamburg Airport Authority.

It will take over CC1 and CC2, as well as the new CC3 early next year.
