Antwerp still looks good
The port of Antwerp handled 189.3m tonnes of freight last year, a growth of 3.5% on 2007.
However, the figures have been impacted by the slowdown in demand for steel from Asia: conventional and breakbulk cargo was down by 14.5% on the exceptional 2007 figures.
The opening of a new terminal in the 6th Haven dock helped with dry bulk figures increasing by 11.6%.
