Antwerp to capture fair wind

Antwerp Port Authority is to take a 47% share in a consortium to build a large wind farm on the left bank of the river Scheldt.

With a maximum potential of 55 turbines, the facility has the potential to be Belgium’s largest onshore wind farm. Construction of the first wind turbines is expected to start in early 2013.

The port is also participating in a clean shipping project which aims to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from ships in the North Sea Region.

The Clean North Sea Shipping (CNSS) project aims to create awareness, share knowledge and push influential stakeholders to take action to reduce emissions.
