Barcelona seeks €97m El Prat compensation

Barcelona port authority is seeking financial compensation of €97m ($134m) from three construction companies involved in the El Prat quay fiasco.

Ferrovial, Cyes and Dragados were all involved in building the new quay, which partially collapsed in 2007, thereby delaying substantially the transfer of the HPH Tercat container terminal to the new site.

The sum being sought is actually €102m, which includes damage to materials, financial costs and lost profit. However, €5m has already been recovered from insurance companies.
