GreenPort Congress 2013 approaches

Mercator Media’s eighth GreenPort Congress is fast approaching and is set to be a truly international affair with delegates from Australia, Ghana, India and Malaysia, as well as from across Europe.

The eighth GreenPort Congress will be hosted by the Port of Antwerp

This year’s conference will be hosted by the Port of Antwerp from 9 to 11 October 2013.

Nearly 200 environmental specialists from more than 60 port authorities, terminal operators and other members of the global port community will be in attendance, with the new format designed to facilitate networking and discussion.

The four main topics to be covered are air quality management in ports, waste and materials management in port areas, managing the direct impact on the local community and environmental reporting and communication.

The programme for 2013 will follow the themes of the ESPO Green Guide, Exemplify, Enable, Engage, Encourage and Enforce, with each session beginning with two plenary keynote speeches, an overview and a state-of-play presentation.

Sessions will then break down into three working groups involving all sectors of the port community, which will hear further presentations to stimulate discussion and debate.

The findings of each group will then be presented to the rest of the audience in a plenary session.

A welcome reception, a gala dinner and a visit to the port will also take place.
