GreenPort Congress 2013 – book your place
Its the last few days to book and receive an early bird discount for the 2013 GreenPort Congress to be held in Antwerp, Belgium, from 9 to 13 October.
Following the themes of the ESPO Green Guide – Exemplify, Enable, Engage, Encourage and Enforce, the congress will start with two plenary keynote speeches; an overview and a state of play presentation.
It will then breakdown into three working groups which will involve all sectors of the port community: port authorities, port users (terminal operators, logistics companies, shippers, shipping lines etc) and suppliers of equipment and services to the port community. The findings of each group will then be presented by the group moderators to the rest of the audience in a plenary session.
The four main topics to be covered at the 8th GreenPort congress are:
• Air quality management in Ports
• Waste and materials management in port areas
• Managing the direct impact on the local community
• Environmental reporting and communication
Speakers will include Thomas Verheye, European Commission, who will talk on DG Environment: The review of the EU Air Policy framework and Patrick Harteveld, who will present on Port of Rotterdam: Noise zoning in ports as a tool to encourage and to enforce.
