GreenPort Congress is fast approaching

This year’s GreenPort Congress, takes place next month from 3 to 5 October at the World Trade Centre, Marseille in France, and is set to be packed with the latest policies and issues affecting the maritime industry.

Dimitrios Theologitis from the European Commission will be a keynote speaker at the 2012 Congress

Delegates at the conference will hear presentations keynote speakers from the European Commission, Janez Potočnik and Dimitrios Theologitis, on the most recent policies and issues currently affecting marine ports and terminals.

The programme at the 7th GreenPort Congress also includes a number of presentations from the world’s most significant port authorities, terminal operators, shipping lines, classification societies, manufacturers and consultants. Concerns and problems under the spotlight, among others, include:

· The use of sustainable equipment in green terminals
· Ship waste
· Analysis of options for Onshore Power Supply (OPS)
· Treatment of ballast water
· Reducing CO2 emissions
· Use of LED lighting in ports and terminals
· Enhancing the relationship between the port and the city

This year’s conference will be hosted by the Marseille Fos Port Authority and supported by ESPO, EFIP, ECOPORTS, AVIP, Green EFFORTS and the European Shippers Council and will comprise the complete port community.
