Growth planned at Teesport
PD Ports has completed the first phase of an expansion programme to develop its existing container terminal handling facilities at Teesport, UK.
The £2m investment involved the relocation of the Port’s existing Vauxhall cars import compound. This made some 10 acres of additional land available to accommodate an increase in container volumes ahead of the Northern Gateway Container Terminal construction.
The rise in volumes is partly due to logistics traffic from Asda WalMart and more recently Tesco, whose 1.2m sq ft import centre was due to open at Teesport in August.
