Kolkata Port Trust is to re-tender berths 2 and 8 at the Haldia Dock Complex just three weeks after ABG Haldia Bulk Terminals abandoned its concession there.
However, it will be at least six to eight months before a new concessionaire is in place. In the meantime, other companies will be offered temporary contracts to operate there.
The previous incumbent, which had a ten-year contract to operate the berths, quit on October 31.
It claimed it had been subjected to law and order infringements, whilst also alleging vested interests at the port authority.
