On its Facebook page, PT Pelabuhan Indonesia I (Persero) or Pelindo 1 said it signed an MoU to develop the greenfield Kuala Tanjung Port with the Port of Rotterdam and China’s Zhejiang Provincial Seaport Investment & Operation Group Co., Ltd. on 7 May.

“The government supports Pelindo 1's commitment to accelerate the development of ports and industrial estates in Kuala Tanjung in collaboration with the Port of Rotterdam and Zhejiang,” said Pelindo I.

Situated in North Sumatra, the Port of Kuala Tanjung is being built to accommodate 60m TEUs per year, to make it the biggest port in West Indonesia. The first development phase of Kuala Tanjung Multipurpose Terminal was inaugurated in 2018.
