Los Angeles’ port is to boost its global standing through a chain of worldwide satellite marketing offices.

It has released a Request for Proposals (RFP), inviting qualified firms and individuals to provide international business development and trade promotion services in eight locations worldwide.
The port is looking to supplement its existing marketing offices with operations in South America (domiciled in Chile), South China (domiciled in Hong Kong), North China (domiciled in Shanghai), Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia (domiciled in Singapore), Taiwan and the US East Coast.
“These overseas representatives provide the Port with a strong presence in established and potential cargo markets, and actively assist US and foreign exporters seeking to expand their product distribution in the global marketplace” said the port.
Proposal terms include a one-year contract (with two additional one-year renewal options) for experienced marketing representatives to foster business relationships on behalf of the Port.
The deadline to submit proposals is December 7, 2010, 1600 hrs PST. More information can be found on www.portoflosangeles.org.
