Manaus concession awaited

Concessions for port operations in Brazil’s Manaus and Aratu ports are to be released by the end of the year, according to port sources.

The former, which will mainly handle containers, needs investment of $145m, while the latter calls for $580m in funding over the next five years to allow it to handle a variety of different cargo.

The Manaus concession will also be unique in that the operator will have total handling responsibility in the port and will also own all the equipment.
