Matson Navigation Company, part of Matson Inc, is to enter into a joint venture with SSA Terminals for stevedoring and terminal services at the Port of Tacoma when its existing agreement with APM Terminals (APMT) expires in December 2017.
Ron Forest, Matson’s senior vice president of operations, said: “APMT has served us well. It just makes more sense to work with our strategic partner at Tacoma as we do at all of our other terminals on the West Coast.”
Matson expects a “seamless” transition and no change to its Tacoma operations from a customer standpoint, he added.
