Uruguay''s government has submitted a bill to congress for the construction of a new $260m port in capital Montevideo, the president of Uruguay''s national port authority  Fernando Puntigliano, has said.

This is a private initiative and the terminal will be located towards the north of Montevideo bay's Cintura dock, Mr Puntigliano said. The terminal is be concessioned for 30 years and will become operative in 2015.

The facility will be installed over 25ha with 600m of docks and a draft potential of 14m.
