Musco lights up Jebel Ali

US-based Musco Lighting installed a customised solution for the terminal operator and its nearly 480-acre terminal – its Green Generation Lighting using an LED light source – to help DP World cut energy consumption, costly maintenance and tackle excessive spill light and glare.

The new system is said to provide a higher quality and more efficient lighting, reducing the environmental impact and eliminating maintenance costs for 15 years. Musco's team of engineers designed the system to strategically light the sides of stacks and roadways, helping truck and lift operators see the containers better and making loading and unloading at the terminal safer.

Musco says with a 66% reduction in energy consumption and the elimination of maintenance, the new system will enable DP World to pay off its initial investment in less than four years.

The port already features Musco lighting at DP World’s Jebel Ali Port Terminal 1 – a project completed a few years ago.
