New AWT fuel optimisation service

US based Applied Weather Technology Inc. (AWT) has revealed a new ship optimisation service (FOS) which it says will give ship operators the data needed to plan more efficient and environmentally friendly voyages.

Skip Vaccarello, president and CEO, AWT, said: “As fuel prices remain volatile, AWT has worked closely with its extensive client base to find economical solutions for all involved in the ship owning/chartering chain.”

“Upcoming IMO regulations such as SEEMP and others are putting even greater pressure on ship owners to find solutions to increase efficiency and show quantifiable results – which is why we developed this service.”

AWT’s new service provides a ship operator with the most efficient and safe route along with a recommended speed where an ETA is required by way of a pre-voyage report. The client need only supply the vessel’s full Charter Party (C/P), speed and consumption as well as any alternative eco-speed being considered.

En route, the service then closely monitors the route and vessel performance in relation to speed and consumption by way of a daily status report via a secure site called PORTAL.

AWT is a leading provider of shore-based ship routing services, BVS onboard voyage management software and its award-winning GlobalView Fleet Management System.
