DP World London Gateway has announced a new feeder service to help it provide smarter and more sustainable trade solutions for cargo owners.
The new weekly service, operated by Unifeeder, will start at DP World London Gateway at the end of February. It is designed to offer fast connectivity from northern England and Scotland to deep-sea markets, and provide a key link between London Gateway and the UK East Coast ports network as well as the Northern Range hinterland at Antwerp, Belgium and Dunkirk, France.
DP World head of UK Ports, James Leeson, said: “This service will open up trade opportunities by providing alternative connections for more remote locations with the deep-sea channels. It is also good news for the environment by offering more opportunities for cargo to be moved by sea reducing the footprint of land transport. This service is a great opportunity for customers looking to create smarter and more sustainable supply chains.”
This service is also a competitive alternative for customers shipping cargo between Europe and the UK as well as transshipment connections via London Gateway.
The Cypriot cargo ship Anna G will be the first vessel to use the new service at DP World London Gateway.
Unifeeder became part of the DP World group in 2018, as part of DP World’s ambitions to be an integral player in global supply chains and enable trade across the end-to-end logistics value chain.
The 2020 Coastlink conference will address the challenges in the short sea and feeder shipping sector.
