New terminal paves way for junction role
The first cargo hall on a planned new € 30 million terminal aimed at consolidating Lubecks leading role in Baltic paper products handling has been inaugurated in the suburb of Schlutup. The 9,618 sq m Hall 33 has cost the Lubecker Hafen-gesellschaft E6.2m to develop and is part of the first stage development of a 10ha former factory site adjacent to the current port. Official strategy is to keep abreast of booming Swedish forest products handling and to seize expected market opportunities.
