Biden launches FLOW

So far 18 participants including ports, private industry, warehousing and logistics companies have signed up to the Freight Logistics Optimization Works (FLOW) pilot to create a transparent data exchange between all parts of the good movement supply chain.

These key stakeholders will work together with the Administration to develop a proof-of-concept information exchange to ease congestion, speed up the movement of goods and ultimately reduce costs for American consumers. This initial phase aims to complete by the end of the summer.

FLOW will test the idea that cooperation on freight digital infrastructure is in the interest of both public and private parties, supporting businesses and improving accuracy of information for a more robust supply chain.

FLOW will be able to address issues such as ensuring early return dates are consistent across partners, measuring more accurate chassis availability and understanding aggregate dwell time.

This latest pilot builds on previous successes of the Biden-Harris Supply Chain Disruptions Task Forces such as reducing dwell time in Los Angeles and Long Beach, alleviating congestion at the Port of Savannah, and a commitment to round-the-clock operations which has already adopted by workers from the Ports of Long Angeles and Long Beach and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union.

The initial pilot is limited but the Administration will be launching a web page to gauge additional interest as the initiative grows.
