The new CT 1000 Solution is expected to be commercially available in early 2023 and allows shippers and operators to track their dry marine containers at every point in the asset’s journey, with both real-time and historical reporting.

The new solution enables customers to estimate arrival times, identify issues and thus mitigate delays in the supply chain. Temperature monitoring and shock detection alert customers to tampering, unathorised access or unscheduled movement for maximum security.

ORBCOMM’s solution uses future-proofing technology that is designed for reporting longevity, update flexibility and compliance with industry standards. Certified to ATEX Zone 2 explosion-proof, the device features smart solar power management and is expected to provide up to three months of operation at 75% capacity without sun exposure.

LTE coverage is through ORBCOMM’s Global SIM whilst additional wireless BLE sensors will also be supported to integrate other safety and productivity applications.

Hapag-Lloyd has become the first in the industry to implement ORBCOMM’s new technology with the installation of a bespoke CT 1000 device beginning in December 2022.
