French port facilitates wind energy

The Port of Dunkirk has taken delivery of nine Enercon wind turbine blades from , each measuring almost 70m long. The blades were transported to the Freycinet 12 berth by Netherlands-flagged general cargo ship Eems Dublin, which will deliver an additional nine blades to be stored at the port before both batches are sent to the wind farm.

The port said the arrival of the wind energy company’s turbine blades demonstrates its aim to be a leading hub for the wind power industry, both on land and at sea, thanks to its necessary infrastructure and know-how.

Dunkirk worked with logistics company Barra SNM, shipping agency Lemaire and transport firm Augizeau to coordinate the delivery.
