New efficient Kalmar reachstackers
Kalmar has launched a new drive train system, K-Motion, into the Asia-Pacific region.
It is embedded into the programming of the Kalmar Gloria reachstacker to increase the efficiency and productivity of reachstackers, reducing emissions and running costs.
Ken Loh, executive vice president of Kalmar Asia-Pacific, said: “Kalmar K-Motion has been developed as a result of listening closely to the needs of our customers.”
“Support and feedback we receive from our customers and dealers is a key input to our research and development process,” he added.
The new solution is in line with Kalmar’s long-term commitment to developing solutions which aim to enable customers to meet sustainability targets and minimise environmental impact.
It is a combination of hydrostatic and mechanical technologies and delivers a more efficient transmission, allowing for a smaller engine without drive and lift power being compromised.
This leads to a reduction in fuel consumption and exhaust emissions, said to be up to 40%.
“Now more than ever, terminals are under pressure to increase their capacity, cut costs and reduce environmental footprint of every day operations,” said Stefan Johansson, director of sales and marketing and Kalmar reachstackers and empty container handlers.
He added: “We are Kalmar have a long-term commitment to developing efficient and sustainable technology, and this includes the possible application of K-Motion technology across our entire range of reachstackers in the future.”
The first equipment to feature the technology will be the Kalmar Gloria DRG450 reachstacker.
