PEMA advice on electrification of RTG cranes

Electrification is an increasingly key issue for the container shipping industry as increasing numbers of operators embrace electric technology to help improve sustainability and efficiency.

“This document provides a solid overview of electrification technologies available today, as well as practical guidance on fitting these systems to new and existing equipment,” said Michael Eckle, PEMA Board member and the report’s lead author.

PEMA’s paper prevents an overview of the current state of legislative requirements on environmental performance facing ports and terminals. It also explores the various eRTGs on the market along with their individual strengths and weaknesses.

This is the sixth paper published by PEMA, last month it published a similar document that focused on container weighing and verification issues.
