Operation Stack gets an overhaul
A traffic management plan in place on roadsleading to the UKs Port of Felixstowe to combat port-inducedcongestion has been revised.
Normally, container trucks are stacked in on-port holding areas when the port is closed – normally due to high winds – but when these areas are full, traffic begins queuing on the A14 road causing severe congestion. But as of this month, the overflow area will be moved to the old A45 at Levington to reduce the “unacceptable danger to police officers, highway workers, hauliers and other road users”.
