APMT names new COO

APM Terminals has appointed a new chief operating officer.

Olaf Gelhausen will take up the new role with effect from 15 November, taking over from Jack Michael Craig who has been serving in a temporary capacity since July last year.

He will be responsible for all COO functions, including global operations, asset management, automation, project execution, asset design and engineering, LEAN, decarbonisation and procurement.

“With his experience from both industrial and technology industries, he is the perfect fit to take APM Terminals to the next step in our goal to be the world’s best terminal company.”

Gelhousen joins APM Terminals from the automotive supplier Brose. Prior to this he was chief operating officer of Thyssenkrupp Bilstein, where he implemented a new digitalisation and automation strategy.

He also served as general manager for Hella in China and holds a PhD in physics from the University of Technology Sydney, Australia as well as Master’s degrees in both Physics and Business in Germany.
