Rumblings of strike action across UK ports

The British trade union, Unite, is warning Associated British Ports (ABP) that strike action could be brewing across its 21 ports which handle around a quarter of the UK’s seaborne trade.

Unite has lodged a dispute concerning medical tests and standards for maritime pilots who navigate ships in and out of the UK’s waterways and ports.

It said that increased medical standards were introduced by ABP in July without any consultation.
