International operator Hutchison Port Holdings, already with port interests in Mexico, is one party known to be looking at new port development together with various logistics operators in order to establish “cargo pipelines” into the US.

Paranagua Port Authority in Brazil has announced that it has new construction projects on hand for silos specifically designed to handle GM grain. This is despite the fact that the provincial government opposes the handling of GM soya at the port. Furthermore, a judge recently ordered the suspension of construction work of the America Latina Logistica terminal at the port, which is being built in partnership with Bunge, to handle exported GM soya.
