Singapore’s Portek International has secured its first major contract with the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) in Malaysia, as well as repeat orders from existing customers.
The flurry of engineering orders total around US£5m.
At PTP, the port equipment engineering solutions provider will refurbish a fleet of 10 units of NOELL and ZPMC ship-to-shore gantry cranes. This will enable the port to achieve a higher level of availability and operational performance.
This refurbishment project also includes the renewal of the port’s trolley rail system, operator’s cabin, boom pin system and improvements on the trolley motion systems.
In addition, Portek secured contracts from existing customers including Papua New Guinea Ports Corporation Limited (PNGPCL), ICTSI’s subsidiary, PT Makassar Terminal Services (MTS) and PSA Corporation.
For PNGPCL, Portek will refurbish part of its rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) fleet to ensure higher levels of operational productivity in the ports of Moresby and Lae in Papua New Guinea.
In Indonesia, Portek has been contracted to raise the height of RTGs for MTS in Makassar.
For PSA, the company will conduct repairs on ship-to-shore gantry cranes in Singapore.
