Hyster-Yale commits to more American production

With the new initiative, the company plans to expand American production to include high-capacity electric container handling equipment powered by lithium-ion batteries and hydrogen fuel cells.

American footprint

Currently, Hyster-Yale produces forklifts up to 19,000 lbs in the US across four manufacturing facilities.

However, its larger container handling equipment, including Big Trucks, is manufactured abroad. 

The move to build more in America addresses increasing demand for US-made electric port equipment in federally funded infrastructure projects, such as ports, bridges and public transit systems.

To comply with BABA’s requirement that 55% of component value must be US-sourced, Hyster-Yale plans to expand domestic sourcing agreements and leverage its American manufacturing footprint.
