Sea freight tracking system

Following the success of BlueBoxAir, BlueBox Systems together with partner Vizion, now offers a real-time overview of all logistics data to ensure smooth passage of sea freight.

Knowing exactly where freight is can be a problem for transporters and, whilst many system providers promise transparency, a lack of quality data can give misleading or out-of-date information.

BlueBox Systems styles itself as the first tracking platform in the air freight sector to deliver real-time visibility and has now teamed up with Vizion to use its API-based solution to provide all freight movers, both air and sea, with up-to-date, accurate information.

“Good, usable data has the following four characteristics – timeliness, accuracy, organisation and standardisation,” explained Martin Schulze, chief executive of BlueBox Systems.

“Quality data, for instance, is always up to date, because knowing where containers and products were 24 hours ago does not help a company gain insights and make decisions,” he added.

Organisation of data is key. Vizion records more than 7,000 individual events and classifies them into 60 milestones and ETAs that can be used for real-time decisions.

“Traditionally, freight forwarding companies have used electronic data interchange to get information from supply chain systems. Vizion uses an API-first approach, which means real-time validation, greater flexibility, and much faster updates,” said Kyle Henderson, chief executive of Vizion.
