Smart Kalmar spots positioning gap
Portequipment manufacturer Kalmarhas added to its cache of automated products with a tool to aide positioning ofcontainers.
Smartspot is designed to optimise container handling between terminal tractors and ship-to-shore (STS)/rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes, replacing manual positioning with an automatic system.
The tool informs the driver when the correct position for loading/unloading is reached, reducing operation time per container move and increasing productivity.
Smartspot can be retrofitted to all existing terminal tractor units, according to Kalmar.
