SEACHANGE PhD Student - School of Civil Engineering, Portsmouth University

Kasia Kot is a first-year PhD student at the University of Portsmouth within the School of Civil Engineering and Surveying. Her passion for the marine environment has led her to join the SEA CHANGE project, headed by Portsmouth International Port and the University of Portsmouth alongside multiple other environmentally driven business partners. The current phase of the project focuses on Portsmouth International Port’s shore-power initiative, to help demonstrate the positive impact of that the uptake of this green technology can have on the local environment and the local residents. This involves working closely with the ferry operators that either call at the port daily and cruise companies that stop off for a turnaround to assess the level of impact through a mixed-method approach of data collection.
