The Government of Costa Rica in partnership with APM Terminals (APMT) Moin has confirmed the inauguration of two new container scanners.
These two new units have been added to one existing scanner that has been in service at the facility since 2020. The government said it is executing and administering this investment.
There are a number of clear benefits being targeted from this project. Overall, the authorities in the country want to provide better opportunities to help combat typical challenges that any port or terminal faces, such as detection of unlawful goods and container contamination.
Ensuring that the port is more efficient, modern and safe are all key objectives of this investment, as Leo Huisman, Regional Director, APM Terminals Americas, notes. “Yet beyond the trade factors, there is a larger aim. “The inauguration of these scanners will allow our customers and international markets to see Costa Rica as a safer country and improve the country’s reputation,” states Huisman.
