Although the Chinese company indicated it is interested in a variety of infrastructure projects, it stressed that it was particularly drawn to the construction of ports that form part of the development plan of the province.

Two brand new ports were singled out as being especially interesting: El Sombrero and Lavalle.

The El Sombrero project, which emerged late last year, is desperately needed to relieve pressure on the existing port of Corrientes, which is said to be operating near to capacity. El Sombrero would be located on the banks of the Paraná River, as would the proposed Lavalle port.

The provincial government has already indicated a willingness to seek funding from a variety of sources to get the projects implemented.
