Electrifying anodes for NJ facility

South Jerseys new Port Beckett Terminal at the US Port of Camden is investing in cathodic protection for its electrical conduits.

The 20 cathodic protection assemblies from Cavotec are designed to mitigate against the corrosion that can happen when submerged metals behave the same way as cathodes in electrochemical cells.

The units work by placing ‘sacrificial’ anodes at certain, carefully calculated points.

The Port Beckett facility is due to open in October.
