Expressions of interest for new Uruguay port

The National Ports Administration of Uruguay (ANP) has invited “expressions of interest for a project to build and operate Punta Sayago Logistics Port. Interested parties can lodge their interest from March 1, 2019 to June 30, 2019.

The project will be part of ANP’s integrated expansion strategy and will complement the existing facilities at the Port of Montevideo. Overall, 100 hectares of land have been allocated, with both maritime and highway access earmarked. There will be a free port, free zone and an adjacent industrial estate.

The free port designation will allow value to be added to cargo through warehousing, re-packaging, re-marking, group classification, consolidation, handling and part handling operations.

According to ANP: “It constitutes an opportunity for investors and logistics companies to relocate to a new distribution centre that will allow the entry and exit of regional or international cargo via Uruguay, consolidating the Port of Montevideo as a hub port.”
