Kalmar equipment in demand

The new equipment is set to compliment an existing fleet of 26 Kalmar Ottawa terminal tractors at SPRBun’s Terminal Especializado de Contenedores de Buenaventura S.A. (TECSA) in Buenaventura, Colombia.

The port is the oldest in Colombia and the main port on the Pacific Ocean with key focus of operations in container, automobile and bulk cargo handling, principally serving Bogota. Handling a current annual volume of 380,000 teu, throughput is expected to increase to 850,000 teu by 2020 as SPRBun develops its domestic operations and enters the transshipment market.

Delivery of all units is scheduled to be completed by April 2016.

Elsewhere, Kalmar has also received an order for mobile equipment to Kazakhstan’s inland dry port, KTZE – Khorgos Gateway.

The company will deliver two Kalmar DCT80-45E7 empty container handlers and six Kalmar DRT 450 reachstackers, as well as seven Kalmar TT 612d terminal tractors together with 10 terminal chassis.

KTZE – Khorgos Gateway is a Greenfield dry port project located on the border of Kazakhstan and China. The dry port, which by its completion in 2018 will reach 580 hectares, is expected to become a significant point of economic growth throughout Kazakhstan, becoming a hub linking cargo between the East and West. It will function as one of the largest international transport logistics and distribution centers, providing Kazakhstan, China and countries of the Eurasian region with new opportunities for access to world markets.

All units are expected to be delivered by quarter four 2015.
